The TESLA joint stock company is the successor of one of the first electrical engineering companies in former Czechoslovakia. It was founded under the name Elektra in 1921, exclusively with Czech capital. In 1932 it became the property of the Philips concern, to which it belonged until 1945. Its production program ranged from the production of light bulbs, tubes, radios, and military production to radio and television transmitters. The company has been operating under the trade name TESLA since 1946. Currently, TESLA develops and manufactures state-of-the-art telecommunications equipment for military and civilian use. As a traditional company, TESLA professes traditional values, one of the most important being is health care. That is why it has developed and manufactured a system for measuring and regulating the concentration of radon in buildings. The origin of the name TESLA is interesting: it was created as a combination of the first syllables of the production program TEchnika SLAboproudá (low voltage technology).
