History of the ORION brand

Behind the brilliant star of ORION stands an entrepreneurial couple who combined their passion for sweet flavors. In 1896, František and Albína Maršner founded an “Oriental Confectionery Factory”, mainly producing Turkish honey and other exotic sweets.
The design is ageless – all Czechs have grown up with a fondness for the little Moor sitting on the yellow Kofila wrapper, or the four-pointed star in all its variations that never loses its charm. The legendary packaging and logo were created by the talented painter and graphic artist Zdenek Rykr. His handwork is still visible on ORION products and in the ORION Studio even today.

ORION Studio

The ORION brand is in the process of writing the next chapter of its story. The first ORION Studio will soon open at Prague’s Jungmann Square, a place where visitors can create their own chocolates. The leading chocolate maker and confectioner Martin Pokorný will be available at the ORION Studio to prepare the basis for this fine table chocolate containing 68% cocoa. Visitors will be able to taste the chocolates themselves and decorate them with a range of natural ingredients – selected kinds of nuts, pieces of roasted cocoa beans, cranberries, or freeze-dried raspberries. Each visit will feature new combinations and interesting seasonal ingredients. Your perfect creation of your own chocolate will be further enhanced by luxurious packaging with Zdenek Rykr’s handwriting, which we offer here. Visitors can also decorate their own package with a fresh flower.
