Did you know, that…?
…the name “Francovka” originated during the Napoleonic Wars? In 1805, Napoleon’s soldiers left several barrels of a French cognac in occupied Vienna. The Viennese, with their love of their sweet wines, did not enjoy drinking this French national specialty, but rather discovered the pleasant feeling and refreshing effects when it was rubbed into the skin. The empty barrels were then used to prepare an alcohol extract from various herbs based on their own imagination, and they began to call it “Francovka”.
